A Practice Built on Patience and Clarity
Bukit Capital was founded on a simple observation: many Singapore residents in their middle and later years know far less about their own tax picture than they would like — not from indifference, but because the material has never been presented in a way that invites calm attention.
Back to HomeHow Bukit Capital Came to Be
Bukit Capital was established in Singapore with a focus that most financial education providers overlook: the reader who is already mid-career, holds property or investments, and simply wants to understand what the annual notice from IRAS actually means for their household.
The founders observed that most tax resources in Singapore fell into one of two categories — dense official documentation suited to professionals, or brief promotional content that skipped over the substance. Neither served the thoughtful, experienced reader who simply wants to learn.
The practice set out to occupy a third space: carefully structured educational material written for the adult reader in plain English, supported by practical worksheets and a glossary, and deliberately free of any urge to sell outcomes or make promises. The material describes, explains, and clarifies. Nothing more.
Based at 19 Tanjong Pagar Road, Bukit Capital serves Singapore residents through a small, focused catalogue of courses — each addressing a single, well-bounded area of personal tax. Every course is reviewed annually against current IRAS guidance to remain accurate and current.
Our Mission
To make Singapore's personal tax framework readable, navigable, and free of unnecessary anxiety for the resident who simply wants to understand their own position.
Our Approach
Descriptive, honest, and unhurried. We explain what is, not what might be. We include a note at the end of each module on when to consult a qualified tax professional.
Our Values
Clarity, respect for the reader's experience, accuracy over brevity, and an absolute commitment to educational — not advisory — content.
Our Team
Liang Tianhao
Course Director
Spent more than fifteen years reviewing personal tax notices and relief applications in a Singapore advisory context. Developed Bukit Capital's course structure with a focus on descriptive accuracy and accessible language.
Radha Nair
Content Lead
Brings a background in curriculum development and adult learning to the practice. Responsible for the plain-English style guide used across all Bukit Capital materials and the annual accuracy review process.
Chen Wei Ling
Learner Support
Manages course delivery and learner correspondence. Chen Wei Ling ensures that each participant can navigate the course materials without confusion and receives a prompt response to any administrative question.
Standards We Hold Ourselves To
Annual Content Review
Every course is reviewed against the current IRAS website and published guides at the start of each year of assessment cycle. Out-of-date examples are corrected before any learner accesses the material.
No Advisory Claims
All material is reviewed for language that could be construed as tax advice. Every course concludes each module with a clear note on when and how to consult a qualified professional.
Data Protection
Learner data is handled in accordance with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act. We collect only what is needed for course delivery and do not share personal information with third parties for marketing.
Plain English Standard
All written material follows an internal style guide that prohibits jargon without immediate definition, sentences longer than 30 words, and passive constructions that obscure the subject.
Print-Ready Resources
Worksheets and checklists are designed to print clearly on A4 paper without adjustment. Learners who prefer paper to screen are supported throughout.
Prompt Correspondence
Administrative and general enquiries receive a written response within two working days. We do not leave questions waiting, and we do not reply with automated messages to substantive queries.
Tax Literacy as a Life Skill
For most Singapore residents, the annual IRAS Notice of Assessment arrives, is glanced at, and is filed away. The figures are accepted without much examination. This is entirely understandable — the document contains rows of numbers, abbreviations, and references to legislation that most people were never taught to read.
Bukit Capital takes the view that understanding one's own tax position is a worthwhile life skill — not a specialised professional competency. The resident who can read a Notice of Assessment, identify which reliefs have been applied, and recognise whether the figures match their expectation is better placed to engage with IRAS correspondence, plan their household finances, and speak productively with an accountant when they need one.
Our courses do not promise transformation. They offer something more modest and, we believe, more useful: a careful, structured reading of the documents and rules that already govern your financial year. By the end of a course, our readers typically describe the experience as tidying rather than learning — placing information that was always present into the right folder at last.
